Beat Goes On for Rays, Win 11-3 Over Mets
The Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays routed the New York N (GCL) Mets, 11-3, at Louisville Grounds. Mike Grimm, who leads the GCL with a .719 slugging percentage, was one of the hitting stars. He went 3 for 5 with 2 triples. He scored 3 runs for Tampa Bay (GCL). The first-place Rays bumped their record to 21-5.

Chris Gardner had a big 3-run home run for the Rays in the bottom of the first inning. With Tampa Bay (GCL) leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Silverstein and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Rays on top, 6-1.

"Been a pretty good stretch for me, hitting-wise," said Grimm.
