Pirate City Complex was the site for Gulf Coast Rookie League action featuring the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates and Detroit (GCL) Tigers.

The Detroit (GCL) Tigers knocked off the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 7-0, at Pirate City Complex. Mike Walters was a big reason Detroit (GCL) won. The first baseman went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Jim Unknown finished to wrap up his 1st save.

With Detroit (GCL) leading 3-0 in the top of the eighth, Walters hit a fastball from Joseph Gargallo for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 7-0.

"Good win for us," said Walters. "Now we'll focus on the next one."

The second-place Tigers now have a win-loss record of 19-17.
