Blue Jays Clipped, 5-3
|
The Detroit (GCL) Tigers beat the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays, 5-3, at Joker Marchant Stadium. The Tigers got a fine performance from third baseman Dante Tapia, who went 1-1 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. The win went to Paulino Marin in relief. His record improves to 7-0. Chris Daniels took the loss. The first-place Tigers are 25-10.
Tapia had a timely hit for Detroit (GCL) in the bottom of the eighth. With Detroit (GCL) trailing 3-2, he turned a full count fastball into a bases-clearing double. It was his 3rd double of the season, making it 5-3, Detroit (GCL).
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Tapia. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
