The Minnesota (GCL) Twins weathered a fine game by St. Louis (GCL) shortstop Ben Mountford to upend the Cardinals, 7-5, at Hammond Stadium. Mountford was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Alex Cruz in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Unknown took the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Danny Solis.

Had Jose Morales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Morales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Twins.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Morales.

The third-place Twins have a record of 12-27.
