Manny Balli pitched well, but his team, the Boston (GCL) Red Sox, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates at JetBlue Park. Aaron Coughlin closed it out for his 5th save. Boston (GCL) has now lost 6 consecutive games.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the eighth inning when the Pirates sent 18-year-old shortstop Jason McGhin to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run, to put Pittsburgh (GCL) on top, 2-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," McGhin said.
