Nationals Slip Past Blue Jays, 4-2
Good production from right fielder Mike McDermott helped the Washington (GCL) Nationals topple the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays, 4-2. McDermott went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for the Nationals. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jon Woodward in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Rodrigo Valladares took the loss. Alvin Janosky earned the save for Washington (GCL), his 3rd of the year.

Washington (GCL) used the timely hitting of Matt Strunk to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nationals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Banging out wins is what it's all about," said Strunk.

By defeating Toronto (GCL), the last-place Nationals improved to 11-28.
