Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Colorado (GCL) Rockies take on the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals.

The Colorado (GCL) Rockies beat the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals, 4-2, at Mosquitos Ballpark. Colorado (GCL) right fielder Willie Ponce had an outstanding performance. He went 2-2 with a triple and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times. Lorenzo Contreras earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 4.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. John Witherspoon picked up the save for Colorado (GCL), his 2nd of the year.

In the bottom of the third, Ponce had a run-scoring triple for Colorado (GCL). It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Rockies on top, 1-0.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Colorado (GCL) manager Alex Velasquez.

The win boosted Colorado (GCL) to 28-13.
