Braves Throttled by Tigers, 5-1
|
The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Detroit (GCL) Tigers.
The Detroit (GCL) Tigers stopped the Atlanta (GCL) Braves, 5-1, behind an impressive performance from Bruce Hess. The 18-year old center fielder made life miserable for Atlanta (GCL) pitching. He was 2-4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Detroit (GCL) has rattled off 5 straight wins.
Detroit (GCL) first baseman Ed Cooper contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.
"I like the makeup of this team," said Tigers manager Jesse Rogerson.
