Walker, Phillies Too Much for Rockies
|
Led by Chris Walker, the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies defeated the Colorado (GCL) Rockies, 10-8. Walker, a native of Lowell, Massachusetts, was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Phillies. Jeremy Conti closed it out for his 1st save. Philadelphia (GCL), at 24-19, sits in third place in the Northwest Division.
The Rockies had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Phillies going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Ryan Ransom came to the plate. Ransom hit a grand slam home run on a 2-0 sinker from Colorado (GCL) hurler Tonny Dekker. It was Ransom's 3rd home run of the year.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Phillies manager Bill Nolt. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
