The New York N (GCL) Mets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Xavier Ortiz into a win. Instead, the Minnesota (GCL) Twins prevailed, 6-1. Ortiz threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Minnesota (GCL) reliever Carlos Alvarez was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Jay Cox. At 37-36, the Twins are currently third in the South Division.

Minnesota (GCL) used the timely hitting of Mike Rutter to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Rutter told the Minnesota (GCL) Observer.
