Romero Helps Mets Beat Pirates, 8-7
The Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates and New York N (GCL) Mets provided some drama for the home crowd.

The New York N (GCL) Mets relied on the hitting of right fielder Tony Romero to stop the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 8-7. For the game, Romero went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Harvey Reyes got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Chris Bailey.

With New York N (GCL) leading 5-3 in the top of the fourth, Romero hit a 2-run single off Pittsburgh (GCL) hurler Danny Cortez. It was the 52nd hit of the season for Romero and put his team ahead, 7-3.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Romero, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
