Red Sox Take Home 4-1 Win Over Tampa Bay (GCL)
|
Boston (GCL) pitcher Francisco Pinedo did his part in helping his team beat the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. David Hardaway earned the save, his 4th, for the Red Sox. The win puts the Red Sox at 20-31, while the Rays drop to 32-19.
Tom Ray had a big run-scoring triple for the Red Sox in the bottom of the first inning. With Boston (GCL) leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Orlando Villareal and swatted a triple to right. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 2-0.
Pinedo attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
