Baltimore (GCL) 34-17 After Beating Pirates
|
Fans watched the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles and the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates fight to the finish.
The Baltimore (GCL) Orioles did just enough to sneak past the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 4-3, at Ed Smith Stadium. Baltimore (GCL) pitcher Harold Dalton, in particular, had a standout performance. Dalton picked up the win for Baltimore (GCL), going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0.
The Orioles got a big hit from pinch hitter Jamari Burney. In the bottom of the sixth, Burney smacked a 3-run home run off Pittsburgh (GCL) pitcher Vinny Hidalgo. It was his 3rd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Orioles were ahead, 3-1.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Burney said.
The second-place Orioles are now 34-17, the Pirates 26-26.
