Rockies Get 9-5 Win Versus New York A (GCL)
The Colorado (GCL) Rockies beat the New York A (GCL) Yankees, 9-5, with major props going to shortstop Colin Simons. On the day, Simons went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Rockies. Colorado (GCL) reliever Carlos Mijares picked up the win to move to 2-0. Jim Unknown suffered the loss. Daniel Negron picked up his 3rd save of the season.

Simons contributed a big hit, a 2-run triple, for Colorado (GCL) in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 5-4, Simons took a sinker from Jim Unknown and stroked the triple to right. His 1st triple of the season allowed the Rockies to leap in front, 6-5.

Simons said afterward that the win gets the team one step closer to its goal.
