Melvin Garcia pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, despite Garcia's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Las Vegas (GCL) Hustle at Roger Dean Stadium. The last-place Hustle now have a win-loss record of 14-41.

An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the second. That's when Hustle designated hitter Juan Aguilar hit a fastball from Melvin Garcia for a 2-run single. Just like that, Las Vegas (GCL) was up, 2-1.

"This was a tough loss," said Pittsburgh (GCL) manager Vinny Romo. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
