Toro Powers Pirates to 9-2 Win
The Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates downed the Colorado (GCL) Rockies, 9-2, at Pirate City Complex. The Pirates were led by Jon Toro. Toro was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Rafael Sanchez, now 7-2, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. At 28-26, the Pirates are currently second in the Northwest Division.

With Pittsburgh (GCL) leading 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Toro hit a splitter from Danny Cabrera for a 3-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 8-2.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Colorado (GCL) manager Alex Velasquez.
