Orioles Get Past Pittsburgh (GCL), 2-1

In a low-scoring contest between the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles and the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 20-year old right-handed pitcher Ricky Mendoza proved to be the difference. The Baltimore (GCL) right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Orioles win. Donte Reed, who is tied for 8th in the GCL with a 10.0 K/9 rate, earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 6-2. The Orioles improved to 33-21.
Brian Simpson had a direct impact on the outcome. Simpson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Baltimore (GCL) up, 2-1.
