Rockies Use Late Surge to Win
The Colorado (GCL) Rockies dealt the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays a 4-2 loss at Louisville Grounds. Willie Ponce went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. John Witherspoon snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Eddie Hines suffered the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Jesus Medina.

Colorado (GCL) used the timely hitting of Kanyon Torrance to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame remarks, Ponce hailed his team's "grit."

The second-place Rockies sport a record of 29-26.
