McAlear Excels in 12-7 Tampa Bay (GCL) Win
Led by 20-year-old Tom McAlear, the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays downed the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 12-7. McAlear went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6 for Tampa Bay (GCL). Tampa Bay (GCL) currently is in first place in the South Division at 35-20.

Cody Keyser had a big 3-run home run for the Rays in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Tampa Bay (GCL) trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Vinny Hidalgo and swatted a home run to center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rays ahead, 4-2.

McAlear said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
