|
The San Diego (AZL) Padres used the hitting of right fielder Jay Madden to subdue the Cleveland (AZL) Guardians, 5-2, in 10 innings. For the game, Madden was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Diego (AZL) reliever Jayden Young picked up the win to move to 1-4. Matt Blom suffered the loss. The third-place Padres hiked their record to 31-23.
Madden had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch slider from Matt Blom, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Padres a 5-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Madden.
"We take it day by day here," said Madden, "and today was a good one for us."
