Losing Streak Continues for Mariners with 8-3 Loss to Padres
The San Diego (AZL) Padres topped the Seattle (AZL) Mariners, 8-3, in Arizona Rookie League action at Peoria Sports Complex. The standout performance belonged to San Diego (AZL) pitcher and San Francisco de MacorĂs, Dominican Republic, native Jose Molina. In 8.2 innings, Molina surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. The win gives San Diego (AZL) a season record of 37-17.

San Diego (AZL) used a clutch at-bat from Jason Meertens to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Padres ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Losing makes me cranky," said Seattle (AZL) manager Jim Hulsey. "And right now there's a big black storm cloud above my head."
