Mariners Nip Royals, 4-3
|
The Seattle (AZL) Mariners did just enough to sneak past the Kansas City (AZL) Royals, 4-3, at Peoria Sports Complex. Seattle (AZL) right fielder Paul Nichols, in particular, had a standout performance. With the win, Seattle (AZL) pushed its record to 32-24.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Seattle (AZL) trailing 3-2, Brent Manske hit a fastball from Alex Ayala to left-center for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Mariners had a walk-off win.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Manske told reporters after the game.
