Good production from shortstop Julio Macias helped the New York N (GCL) Mets topple the Atlanta (GCL) Braves, 4-3. Macias went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. Mike Torres was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Aaron Hunt closed it out for New York N (GCL), earning his 3rd save.
With New York N (GCL) trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Macias hit a fastball from Mat Ross for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 4-2.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Macias told the New York N (GCL) Observer. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
With the win, the Mets sit at 32-30.
