Hops Take Nail-Biter Over Angels
Hillsboro Hops starter Brandon Archer turned in a sterling performance against the Los Angeles A (SS-A) Angels, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. The winner was Hillsboro reliever Jason Jones, now 2-1. The loser was Adam Ritter. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 14-35 record.

The Hops got a clutch hit from shortstop Curt Birman. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Hops.

"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Birman.
