Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Ricky Riojas, who is tied for 2nd in the NWL with a .339 batting average, the Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox defeated the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 5-2. The White Sox now own a record of 26-24.

In the top of the seventh, the White Sox found themselves in a jam. Salem-Keizer had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two out. The score was 5-2, Chicago A (SS-A). Billy Crutchley was at the plate, hoping to deal the White Sox a serious blow. Instead, he grounded out to end the threat.
