Royals Trip AquaSox, 2-0
|
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals rode a solid performance from 20-year-old starting pitcher Jesus Esparza to a win, beating the Everett AquaSox, 2-0, at Melaleuca Field. Kansas City (SS-A) is now 23-29, while Everett is 20-32.
The Royals got a big at-bat from first baseman Nick Gray. For the game, Gray was 3-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 15th double of the season gave Kansas City (SS-A) a 1-0 lead.
"I was able to get good plays made behind me," Esparza said. "And I was able to make pitches when I needed to make pitches."
