Hawks Beat Indians, 6-1
|
David Soto, who is tied for 4th in the NWL in wins with 6, never let the Indians get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Hawks to a win, 6-1. Ernesto Arvallo earned the save for Boise, his 1st of the year. With the win over Spokane, the Hawks improved to 28-25.
The Indians had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Hawks going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Andy Ramirez came to the plate. Ramirez hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Spokane hurler Justin Moga. It was Ramirez's 2nd home run of the year.
"I thought we played a nice game," Ramirez told the Boise Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
