Canadians Slap 8-0 Loss on Eugene
The 8-0 Vancouver win over Eugene was due in large part to Joey Puente. The Canadians designated hitter went 1-2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Ivan Medina picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Matt Whitlatch, who is tied for 7th in the NWL in quality starts with 7, took the loss. Vancouver has a record of 25-30, placing them last in the West Division.

The Emeralds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Canadians going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old right fielder Jason Burgoyne came to the plate. Burgoyne hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Eugene hurler Matt Whitlatch. It was Burgoyne's 4th home run of the year.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Puente.
