Reds Decked By Canadians, 10-1
|
Getting offensive support from Brian Marrero, the Vancouver Canadians topped the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 10-1. Marrero went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Canadians. The win went to Leo Pena in relief, making him now 3-0. Mel Valdez took the loss for Cincinnati (SS-A). Mike Siebrecht, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
With Vancouver trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Marrero hit a changeup from Mel Valdez for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Canadians ahead, 3-1.
"We maximized our offense today," said Vancouver skipper Robert Ely. "That makes everyone's life easier."
The third-place Canadians have won 4 straight games.
