The Los Angeles A (SS-A) Angels beat the Eugene Emeralds, 3-2, at Oxnard Grounds. The win was due in part to first baseman Aaron Blyth, who went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Andres Pinedo got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Emeralds to 1 run on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Derrick Landry got credit for the save for Los Angeles A (SS-A). It was his 1st of the year.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the fifth, Blyth had a key at-bat for Los Angeles A (SS-A). With runners on 1st and 2nd, Blyth hit a run-scoring single off Jeremy Hovis, making the score 2-1, Angels.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Blyth said after the game.
The victory puts Los Angeles A (SS-A) at 22-35.
