The Eugene Emeralds did little to support starter Eric Wise against the Everett AquaSox, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the AquaSox, striking out 5 and surrendering 5 hits. The performance from Wise allowed Eugene to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Eric, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Wise told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This year Wise has compiled a 5-2 record with a 2.56 ERA.
