Hops Triumphant, 4-1, at Lancaster Grounds
The Hillsboro Hops topped the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins, 4-1, in Northwest League action at Lancaster Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Hillsboro pitcher and Encinitas, California, native Luke Gadsden. The winner was Gadsden. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Travis Rebuck. Picking up his 2nd save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Portugal.

Hillsboro used a big swing from Tony Nunez to get the win. The first baseman walloped a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hops up, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it changed the outcome.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Hillsboro manager Tom Sleeper.

Hillsboro now sits at 16-41, while Minnesota (SS-A) falls to 32-26.
