White Sox Win Nail-Biter
|
The Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox took Eugene pitcher Ron Dutton's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Jersey City. The final score had Chicago A (SS-A) getting past the Emeralds, 4-3. Dutton went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 10. David Calderon, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. The White Sox improve their record to 43-16 with the win over Eugene.
The knockout blow came in the bottom of the tenth inning. That's when designated hitter Scott Davis stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.
In comments to the Chicago A (SS-A) Observer, Davis admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
