Volcanoes Get One-Run Win at Vancouver
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes overcame a pretty good performance by Vancouver first baseman Brian Marrero, beating the Canadians, 4-3, at Nat Bailey Stadium. Marrero went 1-2 with a triple and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Salem-Keizer reliever Roberto Ahumada was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jason Norris took the loss. Men Pimentel collected save number 3.
The Volcanoes got a big at-bat from right fielder Jeff Stelma. For the game, Stelma went 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Salem-Keizer a 4-3 lead.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Vancouver manager Robert Ely.
The victory gives Salem-Keizer a record of 35-25.
