Late Heroics Net Royals 3-1 Win
|
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals beat the Eugene Emeralds, 3-1. Kansas City (SS-A) pitcher and Fruitland Park, Florida, native Noah Jones led the way. The winner in relief was Jorge Gurule. He is now 4-4. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. With the win, Kansas City (SS-A) goes to 38-23, while the Emeralds fall to 43-17.
The decisive blow was delivered by Fred Allday in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Doug Curtis to win the game for Kansas City (SS-A). The home crowd went nuts.
"This house was rockin'," Jones said.
