In Extras, Royals Beat Emeralds, 4-3
|
Kansas City (SS-A) Royals right-hander Alex de la Rosa pitched a good game against the Eugene Emeralds at Melaleuca Field, leading his team to victory, 4-3. With the victory, the Royals record stands at 35-28.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 22-year old first baseman Bonifacio Beleite had a chance to be the hero. Eugene pitcher Alex Mejias wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Beleite drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Royals had themselves a thrilling win.
"We had a chance to win," said Eugene manager Santos Nunez, "but we didn't get it done."
