Eugene took on Cincinnati (SS-A) in front of a lively crowd.

The Eugene Emeralds beat the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 4-1, at PK Park. The Emeralds got a fine performance from right fielder Miles Thrash, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. Eugene reliever Luke Simpson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Alex Romero took the loss. Colt Byler closed out the game, earning his 4th save.

Zack Tamburino went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs for Eugene. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Tamburino, who is tied for 7th in the NWL with a .487 slugging percentage, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cincinnati (SS-A) hurler Alex Romero, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Emeralds a 2-1 lead.

"We'll pocket this win," said Thrash, "and then go after another."

Eugene, at 37-29, occupies second place in the West Division.
