Cincinnati (SS-A) shortstop Blaine Rivera had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Eugene Emeralds, 12-4. The second-place Reds improved to 35-30.

The Reds got an important contribution from catcher Andrew Grooms, who in the top of the second hit a fastball to right-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Reds ahead, 2-0.

"Bad day," Eugene manager Santos Nunez said. "New day tomorrow."
