Braves SS Alvarado has 4 hits in Win
|
Led by Izzy Alvarado, the Atlanta (SS-A) Braves defeated the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 5-4. Alvarado went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Braves. Atlanta (SS-A) reliever Alfonso Basquez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mohamed Jones took the loss. Danny Barba earned the save for Atlanta (SS-A), his 2nd of the year.
Alvarado had a timely hit for Atlanta (SS-A) in the bottom of the seventh. With Atlanta (SS-A) trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-1 slider into a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 5-2, Atlanta (SS-A).
"We ground out the win," said Alvarado. "That's all that matters."
With the win, Atlanta (SS-A) goes to 33-33, while the Reds fall to 36-30.
