Royals Stumble, Lose 2-0 to Hawks
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Boise Hawks and Kansas City (SS-A) Royals.
Jesus Esparza, despite pitching well, was dismayed with the outcome: a hard-fought, 2-0 Kansas City (SS-A) Royals defeat at the hands of the Boise Hawks at Melaleuca Field. Boise reliever Shane Williams picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jesus Esparza took the loss. Terry Crowell locked down his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Joe Rhoades? The Boise right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Hawks on top, 1-0. For the game, Rhoades had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Lorenzo Villatoro.
The Hawks move to 33-33 with the win, while the Royals drop to 31-36.
