Marrero Swings Royals to 6-5 Win
|
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals turned back the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 6-5, at Stallions Ballpark. Dave Marrero, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Franklin Viveros, the winner, is now 3-2. He struck out 3 and walked 2 over 5 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Kansas City (SS-A) raised its record to 36-31 with the win.
Vinny Hambrock drove in one run for Kansas City (SS-A). The 26-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Armando Nevarez. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"We scored enough runs to win," said Marrero.
