Volcanoes Eke Out 1-0 Win Versus Eugene
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes picked up a win at Volcanoes Stadium, defeating the Eugene Emeralds, 1-0. Starting pitcher Bill Bilyou was an essential part of his team's success. Mike Mars picked up the win in relief for Salem-Keizer, while Alvaro Reyes took the loss. Mauricio Jimenez notched his 1st save of the season.
Salem-Keizer took a 1-0 lead on Zack O'Bryan's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which O'Bryan hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Eugene pitcher Alvaro Reyes visibly frustrated.
O'Bryan told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
With the win, Salem-Keizer goes to 31-34, while the Emeralds fall to 41-25.
