Boise Hawks starter Nick Guerrero found his groove in his team's 5-4 win over the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals. Guerrero, now 3-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Brian Wright, who is tied for 9th in the NWL in wins with 6, nailed down the save.
Danny Venegas helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Hawks.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Venegas. "But I have better dreams after a win."
Boise now sits at 41-27, while Kansas City (SS-A) falls to 36-32.
