Red Sox Stop Phillies, 9-3
|
Philadelphia (GCL) got a terrific game from shortstop Steve Lennon. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston (GCL), 9-3. Lennon went 3-3 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Elias Cartas notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-3. Luis Javier earned the save for Boston (GCL), his 2nd of the year.
Chris Holmes hit a 2-run triple off Leo Magana in the bottom of the first, which put the Red Sox in front, 2-1. Holmes had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
Holmes told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
Boston (GCL) is 15-46 and Philadelphia (GCL), with the loss, 48-15.
