Reds Tag Hawks with 4-0 Loss
|
The Boise Hawks and Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds picked up a win at Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Boise Hawks, 4-0. Starting pitcher Leo Orozco played a key role in the triumph. Orozco, now 2-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chris Leeder? The Cincinnati (SS-A) right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds on top, 1-0. For the game, Leeder had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Orozco told the Cincinnati (SS-A) Daily News.
The Reds saw their win-loss record go to 25-43. At the same time, the Hawks fell to 22-47.
