White Sox Come Up Short at Atlanta (SS-A), 5-4
|
The Atlanta (SS-A) Braves had to overcome a fine effort from Chicago A (SS-A) pitcher Carlos Neri to win, 5-4, at Rocketmen Stadium. Neri went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win belonged to Matt Butler in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dan Lulek took the loss for Chicago A (SS-A). Elvis Alvarado earned the save for Atlanta (SS-A), his 7th.
Jared Garlington was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Atlanta (SS-A). The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dan Lulek. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Chicago A (SS-A) manager Danny Flores.
Atlanta (SS-A) goes to 27-41, Chicago A (SS-A) to 45-24.
