In a low-scoring tilt between the Eugene Emeralds and the Hillsboro Hops, Brian Adams, who leads the NWL in wins with 8, was the difference-maker. The Eugene left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Adams yielded no runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 8-1. Eugene now sits at 50-20, while Hillsboro falls to 22-49.

Armando Dias had a big 2-run home run for the Emeralds in the bottom of the second inning. With Eugene leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Portugal and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Emeralds on top, 3-0.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Adams said.
