Twins Use Late Surge to Win
|
Minnesota (SS-A) and Salem-Keizer got after it at Volcanoes Stadium.
Salem-Keizer got a big-time effort from pitcher Mike Mars, but it wasn't enough to keep the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins from winning the game, 3-2. Mars threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Jorge BorragAn. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0.
Carlos Lemos had a direct impact on the outcome. Lemos contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the ninth inning to put Minnesota (SS-A) up, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Lemos hailed his team's "mettle."
With the victory, the Twins upped their record to 36-35.
