Dust Devils K-O Braves, 3-0
|
The Tri-City Dust Devils rode a solid performance from 20-year-old starting pitcher Jim Unknown to a win, beating the Atlanta (SS-A) Braves, 3-0, at Gesa Stadium. The winner was Unknown. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Reynaldo Barragan. The save was credited to Willie Gutierrez, his 2nd.
The Braves had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Dust Devils going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old first baseman Zaire Bah came to the plate. Bah hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 curveball from Atlanta (SS-A) hurler Reynaldo Barragan. It was Bah's 8th home run of the year.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Bah.
The Dust Devils are now 22-52, while the Braves fall to 35-38.
