Eugene Emeralds pitcher Eric Wise was in fine form, leading his team past the Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox, 4-1. The first-place Emeralds improved to 47-26.
Wise, a native of Sulphur, Louisiana, was dealing all game. He kept Chicago A (SS-A) hitters off-balance, while giving the Emeralds 9 quality innings. Wise threw 131 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 10.
