Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Volcanoes
Both teams had their chances, but the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes eventually prevailed.

The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Boise Hawks, 3-2, with catcher Paul DiPietro playing a big role. DiPietro went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Volcanoes in the win. The last-place Volcanoes improved to 30-46.

DiPietro had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 cutter from Pat Newman, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Volcanoes a 3-2 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for DiPietro.

"I like what I saw today," said Salem-Keizer manager Josh McAdams, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
