Cleveland (Rk+) Dismisses Washington (Rk+), 5-2
|
Starting pitcher Mark Krause was a major factor in the 5-2 Cleveland (Rk+) Guardians triumph over the Washington (Rk+) Nationals. Krause picked up the win for Cleveland (Rk+), going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. The save went to Cory Johnson, his 1st this season.
Joe Barkell went 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch for Cleveland (Rk+). The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gerardo Vazquez. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Krause.
The win for the Guardians raised their record to 23-8.
